Clan Beaton in the Highlands

[Book] Branches of Clan Beaton

[Thin Blue Line]

In the Highlands of Scotland, Clan Beaton was known as Macbeatha or MacBeth until the end of the 16th century. They received the name "mac beatha" from their role as physicians in the Highlands.

During the 1550s, a gentleman by name of Bethune emigrated to the Isle of Skye from Fife, in the lowlands of Scotland. His descendants on Skye now go by the name of Beaton.
