Roderick Morrison of Roxborough, Ontario sought out James King, a stone mason in New Glasgow, to craft a life size stone statue of his wife, Mary Sutherland, who died in 1892 age 34 years. This impressive statue of his beloved wife in her wedding gown is a permanent memorial and tribute to his affection for her.

Though Morrison died before it was completed and had not paid for the work, James King finished creating the image from the native stone, and had the memorial erected above the grave. It still stands in the Garden of Eden cemetery today [April, 1977] as firmly as when it was placed on the rising hillside many years ago.
