This painting of Roslin Castle (about 15 miles South of Edinburgh) shows the structure as it may have appeared in the 16th century. The building exists at the present day and still retains much of its earlier appearance. The painting is by Andrew Spratt, who works for Historic Scotland as the manager of Dirleton Castle.
