flitted: Highland Scottish word, meaning "moved"; also used in the Lowlands. In his book, SCOOR-OOT: A Dictionary of Scots Words and Phrases in Current Use, James A. C. Stevenson defines flit as: "General Scots for to move, bag and baggage, from one dwelling to another .... `Flit' has been in Scots since the 14th century. It is from an Old Norse word for to transport or migrate."
The fateful Battle of Culloden was fought on April 16, 1746.
The Highland Army was defeated; the Highland Clan System destroyed.
April 16, 1996 marks the 250th Anniversary to Culloden;
