A recent release from Bell Canada reads:

"On May 2nd [1996], Sympatico was picked as Site of the Day by PC Magazine Online, one of the most prestigious U.S. Internet reviewers. In their evaluation of Sympatico, they praised the site for being as vibrant as a circus, but as well ordered as a row of tamed lions.

"The review went on to add: Here you will find logically arranged, authoritative and practical information: there is a way to trade stocks, sell a used car, find a medical support group...and about a thousand other things. It concludes by saying that there is in fact, something for everyone, in every mood.

"High praise indeed from American surfers who have tens of thousands of sites to pick from and guaranteed to ensure thousands of additional visitors to our already popular URL."

The late Hugh McLennan, who is credited with defining Canadian literature, often commented on American aspirations. In one article he wrote that the USA is giving Canada the same invitation as England gave Scotland following the Battle of Culloden.

If he could know that the Canadian website by Sympatico had won this prestigious American award, he would extend his greatest praise and commendation.
