An Ceathramh

Brian Mearns, who was active on the executive of the Clan MacKay Society in Ontario, has acquired his ancestral home in Muie, Parish of Rogart in Sutherland. He and his wife have established a Gaelic Learning Centre, An Ceathramh, of which Dr. Mearns serves as Director and Instructor.

An Ceathramh is the only purpose built Gaelic learning centre in Scotland. Dr. Mearns says, "We offer the best of thorough, modern, well-constructed Gaelic courses. Our fundamental purpose is to produce speakers of Scottish Gaelic and no effort is spared to help people achieve that goal! All classes are small and individual attention is a priority."

Dr. Mearns has taught Scottish History, Scottish Literature and Scottish Gaelic at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). He has a special interest in his home parish of Rogart, in Sutherland, where An Ceathramh is based.
