Our members all belong to those surname derived from the Gaelic, MacEanruig, "Henry's son".
These derivatives, among others, are; MacKendrick, MacKendry, Kendrick, MacHendry, MacHenry, Hendrie, Henders, Henryson, Henrisoun, d'Handresson and Henderson.
Please note that these families are not clan septs which are common among most highland clans. These families all constitute the one CLAN HENDERSON.
BECOME A MEMBER
Why should anyone consider spending $15.00 to join our Society? Well, there are many reasons,some relevant only to each individual but most are universal.
- Many of us are curious about our family history or we are researching our family tree. Our newsletters contain stories from our history and our Clan Genealogist, with a collection of thousands of individuals, will help any member with their research.
- Our Society supports a number of organizations which promote Scottish customs and heritage. As a Society, we feel it is very important to inform, not only our families but the general Canadian public about our place in this multi cultural nation. We use every opportunity to display our historic symbols and to tell about our clan's story, past and present.
- Our Scottish heritage, with its dress, music, food and history is important to our members. The Society helps to educate our members and their families in their own unique and colourful heritage.
- With monies raised from the sale of Clan merchandise and raffles etc. we support financially, Scottish cultural organizations so that they may continue with their mandates.
- All expenses associated with running the Society are derived solely from the membership dues. All personal expenses are donated by the volunteers who also give their time and energies to making our Clan Henderson Society of Canada a success.
