James and John Bethune of Kilmorack, Inverness, Scotland, emigrated to Pictou County, Nova Scotia, in June 1801. They left from Fort William, Scotland, on the ship Dove

Roderick and Mary Bethune emigrated from Scotland to the Loch Lomond area of Richmond County, Nova Scotia, before 1850. Their son, John Lemuel Bethune, served as MLA.
