Anthony Culton was listed among Landowners on the East River in (now) Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

Anthony Culton was born about the time of the Battle of Culloden (1746), and was living in Troqueer in the Parish of Kirkcudbright, Scotland. In May 1775 he emigrated with his wife and young children via Carsethorn on the ship The Lovely Nellie to Georgetown, Kings County, PEI. By 1788 he had moved his family to the west side of the East River in what is now Pictou County, Nova Scotia. He appears on a list of men capable of bearing arms, compiled in 1783.

He married Janet McCaughter. Their children were born in Scotland, and included: Marion, Robert, Janet, John and Ann.
