St. Devenick, a fifth-century evangelist little known in the hagiology of Christianity, is honoured in the counties of Caithness and Sutherland (northern regions of Scotland) annually on November 13th.

He is buried at Banchory-Devenick, Scotland.

The majority of the MacKays and other Scots in North Colchester and Pictou Counties of Nova Scotia are descendants of Highlanders who emigrated from Caithness and Sutherland.
