Trees are broken and ripped out of the ground all over the park.

Photo: War memorial

The War Memorial is still standing.

Photo: Bandstand

The Victorian bandstand is still standing, but all around the trees are mangled.

The other side of the bandstand showing more of the damage.

Photo: Wave damage to BBQ

Waves from the hurricane were strong enough to blow this cement barbeque pit apart as well as littering the lawn with washed up rocks.

Photo: Hidden building

Can you spot the building in this photo? It is still standing. There is a gravel path, a fence and a double occupancy outhouse complete with an H-shaped ventilation pipe coming out of the roof underneath all this.

Photo: View to the top

This road leading from the shore up to the Martello Tower once was an uninterrupted view showing nothing but sky.

Photo: Flattened trees

The end of the road. It is almost impossible to see the road here for all the debris. Park workers will have more than 39 km (24 miles) of trails, some blocked worse than this, to clean up before the park can be opened to the public again. Point Pleasant Park is 68 hectares (168 acres) in size.
