Nova Scotia Youth Chess Festival
The Nova Scotia Youth Chess Festival is set for Saturday November 15, 1997 at Carrefour du Grand Havre, the French Language Grade School in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The tournament is organized in categories by age. These categories are under 10, under 12, under 14 and under 18 years of age as of January 1, 1998.
Entry fee is $10 per person.

This Chess Festival is organized in concert with the Chess'n Math Association the National organization that promotes scholastic and chess achievement.

Qualifiers in each age group can go on to the Atlantic regional final in Dieppe NB (near Moncton) on December 6:

From there successful participants may qualify for the National Championships! Note that
the Youth Chess Festiveal organizers have renamed the age categories "mosquito", "pee wee", "bantam" and "minor"--along with "cadet" and "junior" that the Canadian Chess Federation oversees. For details please see the Canadian Youth Chess Festival Regulations.
But the Nova Scotia Chess Festival,the qualifying event, comes first! Carrefour du Grand Havre its easiest to find by driving up Main St, taking a left at Caledonia (at the top of the hill, opposite to the Community College, down Caledonia about 1.5 kms and on your right).
