The Lunenburg Chess Club pleased to invite your to our second annual
Lunenburg County Chess Championship will take place Friday, Saturday, Sunday, April 17, 18, 19, 1998, at the Wandlyn Inn in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Come visit the South Shore!

Our first championship in 1997 had an excellent turnout with 27 participants despite the ice storm. It was also something of a historic event. Ed Urquhart of St. Mary's University, and formerly of Pictou County Nova Scotia, won the championship and in doing so elevated his Chess Federation of Canada rating to the status of "Canadian Chess Master."
Pictured left is Ed Urquhart (left) about to play his main challenger Rob Villeneuve who placed second in the last tournament.
