The Bluenose Chess Club meets at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC)
Waterfront Campus, 80 Mawiomi Place, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The club meets
on Thursday nights, in Room 4337 of the Harbour Wing building. The hours
are 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
2012–2013 Events:
January 31 The Bluenose Chess Club held a G/15 minute tournament last night. Harold Uuetoa placed first with an outstanding 5.5/6 result. Second place went to Kyle Creamer with a 5/6 score and Gary Phillips finished the event with 4.5/6.
January 17 Four-round G/25 tournament: Ken Cashin won the event with 3.5 points; second place went to Harold Uuetoa with 3.0 points. We had a turnout of twelve players who participated this evening.
January 3 G/5 Blitz Tournament: 1st: Gary Phillips 5.5/8; 2nd: David Kenney 5.0/8; 3rd Ken Cashin 4.5/8
December 6 G-5 Blitz Tournament — Short report from David Kenney: The club had a visit from Jason Kenney who is visiting Halifax for a couple of weeks before he returns to Vancouver. Jason won the tournament with a perfect score, winning all 16 games he played.
Second place went to Gary Phillips who finished the event with a 13/16 score.
Third place went to Mark Keirstead with a 12/16 score. Mark used to play competitive chess in the Maritimes about 20 years ago and decided to return
last night to give the game another try. His result showed that he could still play at a very high level.
November 15, 22, 30 G-90 Tournament (3 rounds; 11 players): 1st: Gary Phillips 2.5/3; 2nd–5th: Kyle Creamer, Ken Cashin, Conrad MacNeil, & Atul Sabharual 2/3
November 8 G-30 Fischer Random Tournament (9 players): 1st: David Kenney 3.5/4; 2nd–3rd: Kyle Creamer & Harry Mah 3/4
November 1 G/5 Blitz Tournament: 1st: Harold Uuetoa 12.5/14; 2nd: David Kenney 10/14; 3rd: Ken Cashin 9.5/14
October 25 G-15 Active Tournament: 1st: Ken Cashin 7/8; 2nd: Gary Phillips 6.5/8; 3rd: Harold Uuetoa 5.5/8; 9 players
participated.
October 18 Casual Games & Chess Lecture - No scheduled tournament.
October 11 G-25 Tournament: Ken Cashin first with 3/4; Gary Phillips and Harold Uuetoa tied for 2nd with 2.5/4.
October 4 Blitz Tournament G-5: 1st: Zackary Burrows 20/20; 2nd: Gary Phillips 16.5/20; 3rd: Harold Uuetoa 13.5/20
September 27 G-25 Active Tournament: 1st place - Victor Havik (Norway) 4/4; 2nd place - David Kenney 3/4; 3rd place - tie between Gary Phillips and Harold Uuetoa at 2.5/4; 12 players participated.
September 20 G-15 Active Tournament: 1st place - Victor Havik (Norway), 2nd place - Harold Uuetoa, and 3rd place - Ken Cashin
September 13 G-15 Active Tournament: 1st place - Victor Havik (Norway).
September 6 Blitz Tournament: 1st place - Goran Prpic, 2nd place - Gary Phillips, and 3rd place - Harold Uuetoa.

The Dartmouth Junior Chess Club is open to children from 6
to 16. It meets from September through June on Saturdays 1 - 4:00 PM at
the Alderney Gate Library, Dartmouth next to the ferry terminal. Contact Don

Department (902) 490-5748 for information. Adult help, either regularly
or occasionally, is always welcome: non Chess players to assist with the
