Canadian Orchid Congress Awards
The COC has two distinct awards:
- The COC Medal to be awarded by member societies.
- The COC Certificate for outstanding service to the Canadian orchid world.
The COC Medal is awarded by the society and can be used to recognize whatever aspect of orchid achievement they wish. Traditionally, the medal has been awarded at shows to displays in particular categories. The society may alternately award the COC medal to any person they feel merits this medal and for whatever reason, provided that they give the COC a report which can be published in the newsletter. Member societies receive ONE COC medal per year.
The COC Certificate is a new device designed to recognize national achievement or service in the realm of orchids. There are set criteria and proposals should be vetted first within a society and then nominations submitted to the COC committee for consideration.
The COC Certificate was first awarded in 2010.
