Canadian Orchid Congress Services
The COC provides a range of services to support Canadian orchid hobbyist activities:
- This web site providing information on the COC, its services, orchid culture and events.
- A bimonthly newsletter providing articles of interest to the orchid hobbyist, a calendar of orchid shows and news on services available from the COC.
- Preparation and distribution of slide programs for the use of the member societies.
- A group liability insurance plan covering society events.
- Organization of a speaker tour at various times that brings a notable orchid expert to present programs to the societies.
- A list of speakers who are available to give a presentation at a society meeting.
- The offering of national recognition for contributions to the improvement of orchid growing and conservation in Canada.
- An annual convention, in conjunction with a show, to bring orchidists together to share their hobby.
- Representation of orchid-related topics on national and international issues with the federal government, notably on the importation/exportation of orchids by orchid hobbyists.
