Easter Sunday - April 8, 2012

Mary, Simon Peter, and John, all three go to the tomb.  They "saw and believed."  But what did they believe?  Initially, only that someone had taken the body.  They "did not yet understand." Only as the risen Lord repeatedly came to them did their belief grow to encompass the vastness and rich- ness of the significance of the empty tomb.
Only as the risen Lord repeatedly comes to us, does our own belief in the meaning of the empty tomb continually grow.  Easter faith is never still.  The risen Lord is always active.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Christians, praise the paschal victim!  Offer thankful sacrifice! Christ the lamb has saved the sheep, Christ the just one paid the price, reconciling sinners to the Father.

Share the Good News, sing joyfully: His death is victory!  Lord Jesus victor king, show us mercy!

The Easter sequence beautifully announces the joy Christians feel as we celebrate our faith in Christ, the risen Lord. Having journeyed through our Lenten season, we now enter into the fifty days of celebration in the new life Christ has won for us.

May this feast of Jesus’ resurrection bring joy and peace into your hearts and homes today and throughout this season.

A blessed and happy Easter to all.

WELCOME TO OUR FAITH COMMUNITY!

At the Easter Vigil, Nikki Brown and Galyle Carolan were welcomed into the Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. As well, Philip Henneberry and Jessica Melady made their profession of faith, were confirmed as Roman Catholics and received the Eucharist. Ashley Henneberry completed her initiation as a Roman Catholic with them. May the Lord bless them on this Easter Day and always. Thanks to the RCIA team under the leadership of Sister Cecelia for their teaching and support throughout the year.

F.O.O.D. Project

Committed Weekend April 14 & 15

Next weekend, April 14 and 15, is our next committed weekend to provide meals for Feeding Others Of Dartmouth.  Sign-up sheets are posted in the main entrance of the church where someone from Parish Outreach is available to answer your questions about the ways you can serve.  The help you provide is appreciated by the many in our community who are served by this worthwhile project.

Feed Others Of Dartmouth

The F.O.O.D. Project is a church-based initiative that provides meals for those less fortunate in our community.  F.O.O.D., known as Margaret House after Margaret Savage, is located at the corner of Wentworth and Ochterloney Streets.  St. Peter and Immaculate Conception Churches provide meals on two weekends each month.  Our outreach began as an Advent project in 2004 and was so successful that it continues eight years later!

Development & Peace

The theme for this year’s Share Lent campaign was,

“Help A Just World Take Root”

D&P and its partners are involved in many parts of the world and some of the communities your donations have assisted include 1000 rice-farming families in the Vatovay Fitovinary region of Madagascar, the Afro-Colombia community in the Choco Region of Colombia and the Village of Prey Veng in Cambodia.

Canadian International Development Agency

Reduces Annual Contribution

“The Brazilian agrarian structure requires major changes if we want a freer and more democratic country.” Says Jose Gomes Neto, Secretary, Pastoral Land Commission (CPT), a D&P partner. The CPT is helping small farmers become self-sufficient and take control of their lives. Your contributions will help these small producers “take root”. This year, the importance of Share Lent is crucial, as last week we were informed that the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has reduced its annual contribution by approximately $5 million, meaning our budget may have to be reduced by 26%. The $5 million must be found if D&P is to maintain support for its 186 projects in 30 countries.

Your generosity during Share Lent is a great sign of the compassion you have and solidarity you feel with our sisters and brothers in areas of the world where people struggle under many hardships to create a better life for themselves and their families.

Baby Changing Table

A baby change table has been installed in the washroom off the hallway behind the tapestry.

CWL THANK YOU!

The information provided to Atlantic Path helps to develop better tools for prevention, early diagnosis and
more effective treatments. Once again, thank you for your participation.

Flowers Have Adorned Our Worship Space

It is fitting that during the Easter Season we have adorned our beautiful worship space with flowers.  Thank you to all who contributed potted flowering plants in memory of a loved one who has gone before us.  The names of those we remember, and whom we keep in our prayers, have been recorded in a book and placed in the area of the tabernacle.
