Easter Sunday -Resurrection of the Lord - March 31, 2013
We hear in Luke’s Gospel account that the disciples “did not believe” the women’s announcement about what they had found. Peter, not relying on the women’s testimony, went to the tomb to see for himself and was amazed. What amazed Peter? The empty tomb? The burial cloths lying there without a body? Or, perhaps, the hope against hope that Jesus’ promise that he would “rise on the third day” was realized. Peter’s amazement points to a soon-to-be-fulfilled expectation that he would encounter an alive Jesus. Our own Easter amazement must also bring us to an expectation of new Life through an en-counter with the risen Lord. The women “came to the tomb” to seek the dead but found the Living. So must we.
An Easter Greeting …
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
“This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad”
Our Easter celebration expresses even more deeply, our faith in the resurrection of the Lord and acknowledges that we have been raised to new life in Baptism. As we sing the psalm refrain, may we as well find new ways to proclaim our faith in Christ, the Risen One and share the message of joy and peace. Although our world is tainted by anger and hatred, the Paschal Feast invites us to live more deeply the hope and love to which Jesus calls us.
May the Lord who is risen bring joy and peace into your hearts and homes today and throughout this season.
A blessed and happy Easter to all!
the FORUM at Saint Peter
for Parish Renewal
to bring renewal to our parish and beyond
Keep an opening on your calendar for Saturday May 11 when we will convene FORUM II. After the success of FORUM I earlier this month when we gathered to take stock of who we are and to reflect on the great gifts bestowed by God on our community, we keep our focus on the second stage. At that time we will come together to strategize on positive ways to strengthen the parish and continue our mission to serve.

Pastoral Care Illness and infirmity can cause great changes in our life. Being unable to participate in the Mass can produce a tangible sense of loss to someone who once led an active faith life. Pastoral Care volunteers seek to provide comfort to those who are experiencing such a change either due to their own illness or because they have become a primary caregiver to someone in need. We bring Jesus in the Eucharist to those in need and help them to keep connected to the Church community.
Parishioners who are interested in learning more about this ministry are invited to get connected with Deacon Bernie Young either through the parish office or by email at canadiandeacon@gmail.com.
First Holy Communion Ten children have been preparing to celebrate their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 5 at the 8:45 Mass. Keep these children in your prayers as they prepare for this great day in their young life. Thank you to their teachers and parents who are preparing them well and ensuring their rightful place among us.
Confirmation Twenty one of our Grade 9 youth continue to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation as planned for Sunday
April 28 at the 11:15 Mass. They welcome your prayers as they commit to the way of the Lord.

Feed Others Of Dartmouth The F.O.O.D. Project is a Church-based initiative that provides meals for those less fortunate in our community. F.O.O.D., known as Margaret House after Margaret Savage, is located at the corner of Wentworth and Ochterloney Streets. St. Peter and Immaculate Conception Churches provide meals on two weekends each month. Our next weekend to serve is April 13/14.
With Sincere Appreciation
We extend our appreciation to all who have worked so hard to help make our liturgical celebrations so beautiful not only during Holy Week but throughout the season of Lent. The Mass coordinators, liturgical ministers, musicians and singers, altar servers, ministers of hospitality, not to mention those who worked to cover the tapestry with seasonal colour and the decorators who built the Baptismal font. All worked to make the liturgies prayerful and uplifting.
Development & Peace Share Lent Campaign
Human Dignity, more than ever
As we come to the end of this year’s Share Lent campaign we remember all the projects throughout the world where people are working to improve their lives, bringing justice, peace, health and education with support from Development and Peace.
The good news is that real change is happening.
Recently, Mr. Mam Sambath visited from Cambodia to tell us about the work his organization Development and Partnership in Action (DPA) is doing with support from D& P, to bring justice, health and education to the most marginalized people of Cambodia. A gentle, dedicated man, he told us that without our support, this work could not continue.
Your generosity during Share Lent is a great sign of the compassion you have and solidarity you feel with our sisters and brothers in areas of the world where people struggle under many hardships to create a better life for themselves and their families. Thank you!
please keep all those who struggle to realize a better life and the committed people who work for them in your thoughts and prayers.
