Home Parish Center Administration
Saint Peter's Parish Centre was housed in the former Glebe House that was vacated when the new Church was opened in 1969. In the transformation to a Parish Centre a new large hall was added to the east side opening in 1972.
Saint Peter's Parish, no stranger to destructive fire, saw the Parish Centre gutted by fire. A program was undertaken to rebuild the Parish Centre, and it was opened and dedicated on October 28, 1984.
A sign unveiled at the re-opening reads, "Saint Peter's Parish Centre - Dedicated to the memory of Msgr. Gerald B. Murphy, Oct 28, 1984". Msgr. Murphy was a well-loved former pastor of Saint Peter's.
In 1998 The Parish bought back from the City the former Saint Peter's Junior High School that was vacant for several years. Religious Education Classes that were being held in Bicentennial Junior High on Sunday mornings moved into the School in March 1998. Since then the School has gradually been repaired and renovated to hold various Parish functions in addition to the Religions Education classes. The School now functions as the Parish Centre.
The former Parish Centre has now been rented out to Edwards' House.
USES: The Parish Centre (School) is maintained as a place for meetings of Parish groups. There are several meeting rooms, an assembly hall with kitchen facilities, and a prayer room. Parish committees have their meetings, prayer groups meet, and various Parish receptions and functions are held.
Some community groups also use the School for meetings and gatherings when it is not required for Parish uses. A nominal fee is charged for these community users.
