The Program puts it PF Personal Fouls in the default Team category From: Dale Stevens In the second game in Friday's CIAU Men's Final 8, the Canada West champs, 3rd-seeded Victoria Vikings, tipped off with the best in the GPAC, the 6th-seeded Brandon Bobcats. After a virtually even opening 20 minutes, the defending champion Vikes exploded to down the 'Cats 84-65. Early on, the story was 2 quick fouls called on All-Canadian Eric Hinrichsen, who only played 3 of the opening 20 minutes. In his absence, the Cats were able to successfully go inside to All-Canadian Shawn Gray, who netted the twine for 14 points. But Aaron Olson kept the Vikes close, with a perfect offensive half (5-5 from the field, and 6-6 from the line). Two 3's in the final minute gave Victoria a 41-36 halftime lead. A telling statistic was the 16-7 UVic edge on the boards. Victoria started the second half on fire, and continued that way for the rest of the game. Hinrichsen took over in the paint, and they seeminly couldn't miss from anywhere on the floor. They built a 50-38 lead in the first 4 minutes of the half, and for all intents and purposes, the game was over. Aaron Olson was selected the Player of the Game. With the win, UVic goes on to meet the Bishop's Gaitors in Saturday's first semi-final. The Bobcats will take on Alberta in one of the consolation games.
