Easter Paddle 2026

Another Easter Paddle in the record books. It was certainly windy at times and we had to work hard then but manageable. We had lots out for breakfast at the Big Stop (good food) and 37 at the river side. Thanks to Hillary for helping with the shuttle and Ian for the group photo. Lots of wild life was seen on the paddle, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Beaver, Muskrat, Otter, Canada Geese, Ducks, Seagulls etc.

Easter Paddle 2025

The Easter paddle was definitely a success this year. 15 canoes, 3 kayaks, 44 people I think. We had a first this year, 2 Big Canoes from CKNS sterned by John and Paul. Thanks to all that helped to put this together, Facebook posting, egg hunt, photo shoot etc.

Easter Paddle 2024

The Long-Standing Easter Paddle was a success once again. The weather turned around and we had a fair day, with very high water and some wind, but all very manageable. Hats off to all those who attended, your presence helped make the event a success. We saw Bald Eagles, and Canada Geese. Eleven canoes, two kayaks, and 28 paddlers. Plus new bridge at Lantz. Thank You, Dept of Highways. Until Next Year.

Easter Paddle 2023

We had over 30 at the BigStop for Breakfast but were all shocked by the increased prices. Good food and great service though. We had 42 paddlers plus Barry, who came to see us off and ended up helping out with the shuttle, thanks again Barry.

The day started out cool with 15 canoes (one six seater) and 4 kayaks. As we paddled down river, the wind got calmer, the sun got brighter and the air got warmer. At the Elmsdale Bridge break stop, we had treats, hot chocolate, great conversation and an egg hunt thanks to Kellie and Erin.

We had a very mixed group of paddlers, some new to the river, one very very young, some senior seniors, 5 from New Brunswick, many seasoned paddlers. All in all, a very happy group.

Thanks to Allan Billard for Brickyard access and Imbert for FB and contacting BigStop. Thanks to Heather and Andrew for sharing their pictures.

Easter Bike / Paddle / Hike 2005

Once again the Gonzo Adventure Club, water babies division, joined with Point Five and his annual Easter Paddle on the Shubenacadie River. The Bike It was cool, with a hint of wind - But we set out, in a sprawling fashion, those hardy but eager cyclists. The hills seemed a tad longer and steeper, the downs not long enough.

Some rears were not quite toughened up to the task. The sun shone, warming our bodies. Thank goodness no rain or snow to dampen the spirits. The Big Stop was accommodating. Coffee and food a welcome respit.

After a quick photo or two, we set back, into the wind which had picked up - it's one of those "laws" of nature. Was good to see some new faces join us - and a hearty welcome to Perry Abriel with the most distinctive helmet ever to grace our bike rides!

See you on the road....

Helga

Easter Bike / Paddle / Hike 2004

Once again the Gonzo Adventure Club, water babies division, joined with Point Five and his annual Easter Paddle on the Shubenacadie River.

After a breakfast of grease at the Big Stop, 24 paddlers in a variety of colourful craft--Sea Kayak's, K1's, K2's, C1's, C2's, hand made wooden canoes, kevlar canoes, plastic canoes/kayaks--red, green, blue, yellow, grey, and even red/yellow, meandered their way (with a tea break in Elmsdale) for a couple hours on the serene Shubie.

An eagle flew overhead and a muscrat swam by our tea stop.

What a great day, thanks Dave!
