Canadian Parents for French

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is a nation-wide network of volunteers interested in promoting the best possible second language programs in schools. It acts as an information-sharing resource for parents, educators, governments and the general public. One of CPF's purposes is to ensure that each young Canadian has the opportunity to acquire as great a knowledge of French language and culture as the student is willing and able to attain. The Nova Scotia branch includes at least eleven chapters.
CPF sponsors Le Concours d'Art Oratoire, a public speaking competition for core French, French Immersion and French first language students from all over Nova Scotia, grades five and up. CPF sponsors a travelling performer each year to visit sever al schools in various parts of Nova Scotia. CPF also organizes summer French immersion camps throughout Nova Scotia. The Halifax Regional Chapter of CPF has ongoing dialogue with members of the Halifax Regional School Board and the NS Department of Educ ation.
