Hi Doug,

    Those two extensions were added as text long ago, as they are text files in 
a different system.  We try to accomodate as many legacy systems as we can but, 
sometimes, extension usage can overlap and conflict with other legacy systems. 
Short of zipping the file you want and downloading it as a zip file (.zip is a 
binary extension), try what I do below.

    I connect to CCN using an Apple IIc and whenever I want to download a binary 
file which defaults to text, I alter the extension to a known binary extension 
and then just rename it later after it's been downloaded to my home system.

    Try that to see it works for you.  We have only one mime-types file and it's 
for the entire system - a global variable, as it were.
