From: Leonard V. Johnson <general@rideau.net> To: jslakov@TartanNET.ns.ca Dear Jan, With all respect, the red poppy now appearing as we approach Remembrance Day, also stands for what the white poppy campaign hopes to establish. By honouring the dead of our wars, we also dedicate ourselves to ensuring that such tragedies will never occur again. As a retired general officer, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and peace activist of some standing, I deplore anything that will suggest that the red poppy glorifies war. Sincerely, Leonard V. Johnson Major-General (Ret.)
