I have forwarded your letter to sfpnet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you wish to reply to an sfpxxx or an s4pxxx email message, please
"Reply to sender" [the quotes refer to my own PINE mail system], but do
not also "Reply to all recipients", since messages may be sent to these
listservers only by their "Owners". Also do not "Include original message
in Reply", since this may clutter everybody's screen with what may become
an accumulating series of emails if the discussion continues.
Your reply will then normally be posted on the sfp-net listserver, which
may be used for email discussions by any of its subscribers. But better,
please subscribe to sfp-net, and post the reply yourself, as well as read
any other replies and subsequent discussion.
To (un)subscribe, i.e., to (remove) or enter your email address to the
From: Eric Winter <ewinter@eagle.ca>
I have sent a copy of this letter to Christine Stewart M.P. Minister of the
Environment. Perhaps a few more of the same might bring some action.
The Editor.
Cobourg Daily Star.
There's a lot to be said for the Kosovars and there's a lot to be said
against them. There's a lot to be said against the Serbs and there's a lot
to be said for them. That being so, it is difficult for us to draw clear
conclusions.
In such cases it is a matter of common sense to trust our government to
make good decisions for us. I now have no faith in that position. Our
actions have unintendedly led to immense distress. That is just the
beginning. We can expect dislocation and possibly starvation throughout all
parts of Jugoslavia. The damage to international goodwill is incalculable
and it will last for decades. Canada's reputation as a neutral peacekeeper
is in shreds.
Nato has got it wrong. To pretend otherwise is silly.
One train destroyed is a train too many. The story of Serbs destroying
residential areas to fake allied bombing is one tall-tale too many. One
bomb dropped in the wrong place in 'good faith 'is just too much good
faith.
Let us ask our government to take a lead in Nato by telling parliament
precisely what are our aims in Jugoslavia, about it's judgment of the best
way to achieve those aims, and about its assessment of the consequences of
such actions.
Until this is done let our part in the bombing cease.
Yours sincerely
Eric Winter
