We talked about Transportation issues awhile back on this list. Here's
your chance to do something about it.

Transport 2000 Atlantic is having their annual general meeting on
Saturday, April 4 at 2:00 pm in the Helen Creighton Room of the Dartmouth
Alderney Gate Library (2nd floor).

This is a great opportunity to learn more about this dynamic organisation,
and even to get involved yourself. For more info, contact John Pearce at
902-469-3474 or fax 902-469-3637.
Visit the T2000 website at: www.geocities.com/athens/forum/2463

Transport 2000 Atlantic is also asking people to send letters to House of
Commons Standing Committee on Transport, *asap* with your thoughts on the
future of Via Rail. It would be a good idea to check with John Pearce
before writing, as he can give you details on the questions the committee
is studying; he'd also appreciate receiving a copy of your letter.

The address for letters is:
Mr. Raymond Bonin, M.P.; Chair, Standing Committee on Transport; Room 416,
West Block; House of Commons, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6

Again, please send your questions about Transport 2000 directly to John
Pearce, not to me ... i'm a member of Transport 2000, but not a leader.

As an aside, i'm pleased to say that Louise Comeau of the Sierra Club will
be testifying before the Committee on the links between Climate Change and
train transport. As many of you know, cars are the number one contributor
to Climate Change, and Louise Comeau is one of Canada's -- probably the
world's -- leading activists on this.

John and Transport 2000 came along on the Sierra Club's Clayoquot Express
back in 1993 ... and he's been a faithul participant in Atlantic Earth
Festivals.

bon voyage ... :)
