Greetings from the 10th annual Atlantic Earth Festival!

The Atlantic Earth Festival is an annual event produced by the Atlantic
Earth Festival Association, a non-profit society whose mandate is to
promote environmental awareness by providing a forum for concerned
individuals, groups and organizations to share their knowledge and
perspectives. This year there are a number of exciting and significant
changes planned. Rather than holding the festival in mid-summer, the
festival for 1998 is scheduled to take place at the George Dixon
Centre, Halifax NS, as a finally to the province wide environment week
activities, Saturday, 6 June, and Sunday, 7 June.

The George Dixon Centre is a mixed indoor/outdoor location, which if
the weather is favorable can accommodate indoor and outdoor activities, or
in the case of rain can be moved inside.

Our decision to make these changes to time and location resulted in large
part from recognizing the difficulties which wind , rain, and loud
music has presented our participants in the past. Also, by simplifying
the logistics, we open up the opportunity to focus more on the creative
aspect of the festival, which we envision being more interactive for 1998.

Essential to the final vision and form which the Atlantic Earth Festival
will take is your input and ideas. We would like to see concerned groups
and individuals broaden their participation to include not just the days of
the event, but the forming of what those days will be. We offer the Atlantic
Earth Festival as a vehicle for you to promote environmental awareness and
 much more.

We welcome and encourage you to contact us, attend any Earth Festival
meetings (Tuesdays, 8:00 pm, Oxfam Office, 2099 Gottingen), or arrange to
get together with Earth Festival volunteers to discuss ideas. We also
want to hear from anyone interested in becoming a volunteer. We look
forward to your participation!
