Subject: Greetings from RATE (Real Alternatives to Toxins in the Environment)

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to an informative public meeting
and Panel Discussion on "Human Health and Urban Pesticides" where three
experts will discuss the health hazards of landscape pesticides, lawn
ecology basics, and community law solutions to , involuntary residential
pesticide exposures. Since at least 5% of the population is immediately
suffering from the pesticide abuse going on in our neighbourhoods and we
know that recent medical studies are implicating lawn pesticides in health
problems of our children, we know that you will want to participate in ,
this informative evening. The Raging Grannies will entertain, you , and
you will get free organic lawn care tips as well get a chance to question
our world class experts.

The dates to remember are Thursday, April 23, 7:30 PM, Room 105, Weldon
Law Building. The Speakers are: Dr. Roy Fox, Physician and Director, NS
Environmental Centre; Dr. David Patriquin, Researcher and Advocate of
Organic Techniques and Howard Epstein, MLA and Lecturer in Environmental
and Community Law.

A second event, a public lecture, Pesticides: Use and Abuse" given by
Elizabeth May, Executive Director of the Sierra Club of Canada, takes
place on Tues, April 28th at the same room in the Weldon Law Building. The
Raging Grannies will be present at both events.

It is important that we show support for a healthier Municipality. We
hope you will attend.
