OPEN JOBS with CUSO, an international development organization that places
shilled cooperants for 2 year contracts
(Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants)

1. Urban Planner, El Salvador
Exciting opportunity to work in Mejicanos, an inner city neighborhood to
develop an innovative and participatory municipal development plan.
Cooperant must have a degree in Urban Planning or management, knowledge of
how to conduct participatory assessments and prepare projects and
operational plans.  El Salvador has recently emerged from a 12-year civil
war which took a high toll on the population and wreaked widespread
ecological destruction.  However, there is optimism that social relations
are being slowly transformed in the wake of peace accords.

2. Civil Engineer, Bolivia
Work is based in Cochabamba with the Centre for Investigation and Promotion
of Rural People (CIPCA), a Bolivan NGO working with marginalized rural
people since1976 - infrastructure projects i.e. irrigation,  technology
transfer, support for municipal governments.   A cooperant must have a Civil
Engineer degree with experience in elaborating profiles and projects for
productive infrastructure in rural areas, sanitation and education.

3. Financial Advisor and Trainer, Tanzania
The cooperant will work with the Kinapa Development Program in Arusha to
train staff at a local Pastoralist organization based in Kibaya.  Applicants
should have a degree in Financial Management/Administration, experience in
project management, networking, fundraising and income generation. KDP
formed in 1992, works on community resource management, environmental care,
gender issues, institutional capacity building for peasant groups, livestock
disease control measures and development of community based water supply
projects.

4. Education and Information Officer,  Papua New Guinea
Do you have a degree in journalism or communications, experience in desk top
publishing? Work with Transparency International, an NGO in PNG that has a
strong coalition of partners, to curb corruption, encourage governments to
establish and implement effective laws, policies and anti-corruption
programs. Help develop educational and information materials and establish
systems to distribute the information to partner groups and the public at
large.  The cooperant will also help train a Papua New Guinean counterpart
to assume the responsibilities of the position.

5. Environmental Liaison Coordinator, Kenya
Cooperant will work with the Environmental Liaison Centre International
(ELCI) in linking environmental organizations through issue-based networks
in order to strengthen action and partnerships at the grassroots.  The
cooperant will be responsible for coordinating the work of up to 14 Regional
Focal Points to strengthen member involvement in ELCI programs and to
identify new progrma areas and funding sources based on member priorities in
the different regions. Applicants should have 3 years work experience with
ENGOs , direct, practical work with community-based organizations, strong
ability to communicate in multiple languages, Spanish/French an asset.
