**************************************************************************** *** THE AGBIOTECH BULLETIN Volume 7, Issue 1 JANUARY 1999 NEW BIOTECH ADVOCACY GROUP An organization of biotech stakeholders called the Government Relations Committee has been formed to coordinate the efforts of Canada's biotech industry with regard to regulatory issues, both domestic and international. The committee hopes to develop strategic relationships with key offices of the federal government in order to further the development of the Canadian biotech community. First on the committee's agenda is international Biosafety Protocol. Joyce Groote, President of BIOTECanada, has been appointed chair of the Government Relations Committee and Ray Mowling, vice president of Monsanto Life Sciences Canada, will serve as Vice-Chair.
