Someone inquiring about independent sources of information which condemns
the use of "pressure-treated" wood, is welcome to download and/or view my
small collection on my public directory:
http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ax876/ptwdatat.txt
If you need more than the six or seven pages of these independent sources,
just post me a msg.

Both Copper Chromate Arsenate (CCA) and Pentachlorophenols are
commercially used in treated wood, and both have related bodies of
scientific literature indicating significant health concerns from
various forms of contact with them.

One thing I haven't seen dealt with is the fate of leachate near house
foundations. Capillarity draws considerable moisture in through
concrete basement walls and floors (as anyone who has attempted to store
cardboard there knows). It seems to me that waterborn leachate from
outside treated wood (decks, etc) has the potential to concentrate on
the inner walls of residential concrete foundations through evaporation
of any leachate pulled in through these surfaces.

One possible alternative to consider is the product "Lifetime Wood
Treatment" which has been used in Banff National Park and in Sweden
predating that, I believe. Information is available on this through
various local sources and through a company in Stevensville Ontario,
