Atlantic Ecotopia A Hands on, Environmentally focused youth gathering for youth that want to change their community and their world! What would it be like to live in an environment that was ecologically sustainable and in a community that was socially just? That question will be explored this summer during an intensive, creative camp, named Ecotopia, where youth who are committed to making positive social and environmental changes in their communities will gather. The camp will involve 40 Maritime youth from diverse communities and backgrounds. During the camp they will attempt to live a sustainable lifestyle. By eating only locally produced food and consuming only local, sustainable materials participants will prove that a sustainable way of life is possible. Ecotopia will be focused on Education, by using the participants knowledge and help from community mentors and experts in the field we will empower our selves and show that youth can and will make positive change in our communities. HeartWood is committed to ensuring that our programs are available to all youth in Nova Scotia. In order to accomplish this we have created a scholarship fund.
