According to a telephone conversation with Susan Mader (PR office for DNR) there have been 21 sessions throughout the province on the above (22nd this evening Sep. 19). For those who wish to make comments on the information provided at these sessions, the deadline is Oct. 6, 2000. A copy of the information is available to anyone who contacts Susan Mader (Phone: 424-2354). Those wishing to fax (424-7735) their comments to Minister Ernie Fage or email (MIN_DNR@gov.ns.ca) should do so before that deadline (cc.: madersd@gov.ns.ca). If enough comments are not received about issues such as the use of our tax dollars to subsidize the application of pesticides, fungicides, etc. on crown land, nothing will be done to stop this continuous application of known neurotoxins and carcinogens to lands that we, the taxpayer, own. Your comments to the minister and your MP/MLA/Municipal councilors' attention may give us (the voter) some leverage prior to AND after election campaigns.
