 PUBLIC LECTURE:   Pesticides, Women and International
 Development: an ecosystem approach to human health - Part of the Ecohealth
 Lecture Series.  Tuesday, FEB 13 AT 7 P.M

 PLACE: Auditorium A, Sir Charles Tupper Building, 5849 University Ave.,
 Halifax. Elizabeth May will chair the evening presentation.

 SPEAKERS:  1] Dr. Leslie London, University of Capetown, South Africa
 on "Pesticides, Social Justice and Women Agricultural Workers in South
 Africa: A Developing Country Perspective" .  Dr. London has postgraduate
 qualifications in Epidemiology, Occupational Health and Community Health.
He
 also holds a doctorate in Community Health for an investigation in the
 neurotoxic effects of pesticides on the health of farm workers exposed to
 organophospate insecticides.

                         2] Dr. Donald Cole, Institute for Work and Health,
 Ontario on "Changing Agroecosystem Management to Reduce Pesticide Use and
 Improve  Human Health"   Dr. Cole is a Senior Scientist, in Workplace
Studies, at the
 Institute or Work and Health of Ontario, and Associate Professor,
 departments of  Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics and Geography, at
McMaster
 University. He is also a Royal College specialist in Occupational Medicine
 and Community Medicine.

 The Ecohealth Lecture Series is an annual lecture series, organised through
 the Academic Fellowship of the International Development Research Centre of
 Canada. It seeks to promote awareness and discussion of an ecosystem
 approach to human health, based on transdisciplinary concepts,
 gender-based analyses and participative methods to improve ecosystem
 management.
