This comes from a possibly unlikely source (NSPC) but contains interesting
information on indoor air quality. Nova Scotia Power's website also
contains energy-saving information. For example, there is a questionnaire
you can complete to receive a free home energy efficiency evaluation.

>From Nova Scotia Power ...

> March is Asthma Month - Make Indoor Air Quality Your Focus.

> Indoor air quality and a health home environment are major concerns for
today's homeowners as Nova Scotians, particularly children, become
increasingly prone to respiratory diseases.

> > Asthma in Nova Scotia has increased over 500 percent since the 1970s,
with recent research implicating poor indoor air quality as a leading
trigger of attacks. For parents and others who are concerned about
protecting their family's health, the first line of defense is in the
home.

> The Lung Association of Nova Scotia offers these tips as part of their
Formula for Health Indoor Air Quality:

> - control moisture in the home
> - minimize dust
> - control chemical irritants
> - monitor carbon monoxide levels
> - consider pets as a source of allergens
> - keep air fresh

> Using air friendly heating products like heat pumps and ETS units can
also help you breathe easy.
