Hi All, I am writing to encourage people to read and submit comments on the Nova Scotia Energy Strategy. The Department of Natural Resources is conducting public consultations and accepting submissions which it will post on its website. The Draft Strategy and an overview of the main points, as well as submissions to date are available at : http://www.gov.ns.ca/petro/EnergyStrategy/ . The draft policy, as it currently stands, gives attention to the development of renewable energy or energy consumption reduction. Nova Scotia has the oppurtunity to write a proactive document that integrates health and environment into an energy plan. At this point the document focuses on oil and gas extraction. This strategy will be in place for at least the next 4-10 years. The more people they hear from the better, and as all documents submitted will be posted on the web, Nova Scotians have the chance to see what others are thinking about the province's energy future.
