A temporary part-time position (maternity leave replacement) is available as Assistant Coordinator of the TRAX program of the Ecology Action Centre. The job is a half time (20 hours /week) position starting July 9th. TRAX is looking for a person who is knowledgeable and passionate about urban planning and transportation, but also able to convey that passion into tangible issues for the general public to relate to. This person should be diplomatic and articulate, and able to deal well with a broad spectrum of people. Skills: · Knowledge of environmental issues and specifically climate change issues · Understanding of regional planning and its implications on transportation planning · Knowledge of, and preferably experience with the Halifax Regional Municipality's transportation policies · Ability to communicate on a wide variety of levels, including the public, media and business/ industry · Experience in advocacy and lobbying · Strong presentation skills, ability to communicate comfortably with large and small audiences · Strong writing skills · Computer literacy in MS Office, including Word, Excel, familiarity with e-mail and internet · Basic accounting (tracking expenses and submitting invoices to funding agency) · Ability to work well with others · Persistent, optimistic approach, with ability to find new ways to solve problems Application deadline: Thursday, June 14. 9:00 a.m. Interviews will be held the week of June 18.
