As most sust-mar subscribers are aware, the province of Nova Scotia is conducting a "public" energy strategy to push their oil and natural gas agenda. Surprising as it may seem, the energy strategy document, "Powering Nova Scotia's Economy", includes several pages on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. In keeping with other parts of the document, it contains a number of factual errors in its discussion of Nova Scotia, climate change, and greenhouse gas emissions. Not surprisingly, it pays little attention to ways in which Nova Scotians could 'decarbonize' provincal energy usage. The report, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions and the Nova Scotia Energy Strategy", examines the provincial government's energy strategy document, greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change. Unlike the government's document, the report discusses current energy usage in Nova Scotia and considers ways in which energy demand could be reduced or replaced by renewable fuels. The report concludes with a list of options that could encourage the development of sustainable energy in Nova Scotia.
