NOVA SCOTIA WILDLIFE FESTIVAL 2001

DATES:  SEPTEMBER 15 & 16, 2001

THEME:   HABITAT PRESERVATION

LOCATION:  FISHERMAN'S COVE, EASTERN PASSAGE

The main objective of this event, the first Wildlife Festival
ever to be held in the Atlantic Provinces, is to create an awareness and

appreciation for the natural world around us and the people helping to
protect it -- to celebrate our natural heritage in a way that brings it
directly to the communities of Nova Scotia through music, art, nature
hikes,
boat tours, lectures and demonstrations.

The festival is designed to show our community all that is wonderful
about the natural world that we live near. As further development takes
place, we all need to remember the natural places and the animals that
are
living around us which brings so much to our lives.

Events taking place during the two day event include: a puppet show
which includes endangered species with local puppeteer Terry Angus;
wildlife
artists, including photographers, painters, sculptures, woodcarvers, and

more will be presenting and selling their work; retail booths from
nature-oriented stores and from organizations that have a message about
the
environment; demonstrations from authorities in their field about
animals
and their habitats; children's wildlife face painting; demonstrations
for
children on building bird, bat, and butterfly houses; guided
lecture/hiking
trips to area wetlands and islands; kayaking and boat rentals; boat
tours;
booths for colleges that have environmental programs of study;
demonstrations for outdoor activities available in Nova Scotia for
hiking,
bird watching, whale watching, gardening, tree planting, landscape
designing
for wildlife; and much more. Whale watching, seal watching and bird
tours
will also be available at site.

If you have any interest in wildlife and the preservation of habitat
in Nova Scotia, this is one event you won't want to miss.
