Toxic Tours
Join activists in Halifax and Sydney to launch our new Toxic Tours Services.

Sunday August 19, 2001
Halifax - 9am Ferry Terminal, Halifax Waterfront
Sydney - 7:30am Government Wharf, where the cruise ships come in.

We will be handing out Toxic Tours brochures and inviting tourists to "See
the Beast of Cape Breton". There will be a mock-up tourist booth in Halifax
where tour representatives will answer questions and set up reservations.
Other representatives will walk up and down the waterfront inviting tourists
to visit the tour booth.

Since the federal and provincial governments announced yesterday that the
Tar Ponds, Steel Plant, and Coke Ovens sites have nothing to do with
excessive levels of cancer-causing chemicals found on residential
properties, Sydney residents have decided to offer toxic tours. The tours
will serve as a way to boost the local economy and provide others with the
opportunity to see first-hand the toxicity of government cover-up. Tours
are provided free of charge (suggested donation $20/person). All proceeds
go directly to support Sydney activists.

Special thanks to Oxfam and MASH for supporting this action.
