NORTHWEST ARM FERRY SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS ACCOMMODATE AFTER-SCHOOL TRIPS AND LATE-AFTERNOON APPOINTMENTS; ALSO PURCELLS COVE AREA: So far the experimental Northwest Arm ferry is recovering about 40% of the charter cost. Ridership seems to be stabalizing at 40 people per morning peak, which is encouraging but not enough to ensure long-term viability as a stand-alone business operation. To make the operation worthwhile to the charter company, they need another 60 riders! Hopefully the following schedule adjustments will help. The changes are effective immediately, and involve a slightly shorter morning peak service window in exchange for a longer afternoon peak window to accommodate school children and others who leave work as early as 3:30 pm. The fare remains unchanged at $2. Also a basic service to and from Purcells Cove is available for a fare of $4 one-way. I believe there is some limited parking at New Dawn Charters in Purcells Cove. So effective today (Oct. 11) (and subject to change without notice) the new schedule is: MORNINGS: dp. Purcells Cove 7:00 am arr. Oakland Rd. dock 7:25 am (Jubilee Rd. available on request) Shuttle on demand between Dingle and Oakland Road from 7:30am to 9:00 am (Jubilee Rd. available on request) dp. Oakland Rd. for Purcells Cove 9:00 am arr. Purcells Cove 9:25 am AFTERNOONS dp. Purcells Cove 3:00 pm arr. Oakland Rd. 3:25 pm (Jubilee Rd. available on request) Shuttle on demand between Oakland Rd. and Dingle from 3:30 pm to 6:15 pm (Jubilee Rd. available on request) dp.
