Editorial: Canada is protecting its polluters

	Canada's Minister of the Environment recently told Canadians that 110 Nobel
laureates say climate change is the most critical issue facing humanity.
And, Mr. Anderson went on to say that Canadians expect their federal
government to show leadership on this critical issue.
	So is our government living up to this challenge?  The answer is sadly no.
Five years after Canada signed the Kyoto agreement to reduce greenhouse
gases, we still have not ratified the agreement.  Instead, the federal
government is trying to weaken the Kyoto rules so Canada can get additional
credits for clean energy exports.

SIR JOHN A. CLEANUP INCLUDES ADJACENT 'DUMP'
The man in charge of the clean up at Sir John A. MacDonald High School
says all problem areas around the school will be dealt with.  Earlier this
week, Hubley resident, Sandy Reinders, raised concerns about debris behind
the school's back parking lot.

SACKVILLE RIVER ASSESSMENT CONSIDERED
Halifax Regional Council is going to find out how much it will cost to do
an environmental assessment of the Little Sackville River. Earlier this
summer, run-off from a Sobey's-owned development killed thousands of fish.
