Quick note to say THANK YOU to all the sust-mar folks who wrote to me with suggestions on how to respond properly to the city of Yellowknife's idea of potentially building a waste incinerator. I recently found out that the city has abandoned this idea. Yellowknifers apparently do not produce enough waste to make the energy from an incinerator viable. We would in fact have to double our garbage output. Maybe it's because so many people take salvageable items to the landfill, where others go and pick them up for reuse! So, until we reach that lofty goal of garbage output, no incinerator seems likely for Yellowknife.
