The Digby Neck Mega Quarry: Beyond NIMBY and NAFTA

Dr. Janet Eaton will be speaking at the Digby Regional High
School on Thursday October 10th, 7 p.m. on the NAFTA
implications of the proposed mega-quarry for basalt 
in Digby Neck.  Admission is free and all are invited.

Janet Eaton teaches in the Political Science Department 
of Acadia University. She is a member of Sierra Club's
International Corporate Accountability Committee.

Directions to the meeting: Take highway 101 to exit
26. Drive toward Digby. Turn left at the second set of
lights onto Victoria St. Turn right on Mount and park
in the rear of the parking lot.

BIG CITY MAYORS FOCUS ON URBAN REVITALIZATION
A Big City Mayors conference with municipal leaders from across the country
kicked off in Halifax Friday.       At the top of the agenda is the recent
announcement by Ottawa to revitalize urban centres -  and the leaders say
the federal government should be prepared to spend a lot of money.
