LAYOFFS LOOM FOR MINAS BASIN PULP AND POWER
Minas Basin Pulp and Power is shutting down one of its cardboard-making
machines.  As a result, the Joudrey-run business will cut 38 jobs by
December.  The company has also announced it
will invest $4 million into improving one of its other production
machines.

WINDSOR REGIONAL WATER TROUBLE CLOSES SCHOOL
Students at Windsor Regional High School were sent home early Thursday,
after officials discovered a problem with the school's water system.
Students were dismissed at 10:30.

GOOD NEWS AND BAD ON FUTURE OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT 
The Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board says there are huge
deposits of undiscovered oil and gas off Nova Scotia but the pockets are
along the Scotian Slope in areas where exploration is a real challenge.
