An Opportunity of a Lifetime!
-----------------------------
Hi! This is Jocelyn Land-Murphy and Jessica Lax here from the Otesha
Project, offering an amazing opportunity for anyone who wants to make a
difference in the world.
We are looking for a few exceptional individuals to join us in the venture of
cross-country skiing, biking and walking across Canada (from Victoria BC to
St.
John's Newfoundland), speaking at over 100 high schools and youth venues along
the way, inspiring other youth to be the change they want to see in the world.
The Otesha Project team will be making presentations and workshops which
aim to
raise awareness about the problems that our society has created - its
destructive force on both the environment and its inhabitants. What makes us
unique, is that we provide hope and solutions. We are focusing on sustainable
consumption, which is living your life in a way that conserves resources and
encourages you to vote with your dollars. Our hope is that by encouraging
youth to adopt a sustainable lifestyle, they will become empowered, fostering
future positive actions - in the end leading to our generation of youth being
aware, empowered and responsible global citizens; youth that will change the
world, in both their actions and their dreams.

We are looking for inspired, energetic, and creative people to get involved in
A variety of ways.
1) Fellow cyclists for the May - August (or to October for new graduates)
section of the trip. No experience is necessary, all you need is a lot of
heart! With a full committment, we will try to cover all the costs of your
trip. We rotate responsibilites amongst the team, and on you day in rotation
(likely a nice break from biking!), you would have the following
responibilities: driving the support vehicle to our destination in the
morning,
buying the groceries, securing where we are staying (hopefully planned
beforehand), contacting the media, securing the school/youth venue, fielding
any phone calls that come in on the cell phone, being on call for any
emergencies with the bikers, and finally beginning the preparation of supper
for when the starving cyclists arrive.
There is also opportunity to become involved in the actual presentations and
workshops possibly covering the following issues:
Leading a selected group of students in developing an action plan of their
choice for the community (local or global)
Ecological footprint
Cradle to grave cycles of consumer goods
Consumer power in regards to social change
Effects of the media
If there is a workshop you would like to run (we are open to new ideas) that
fits into provincial curriculums and our mandate (in case that wasn't clear,
our message is that individuals can change the world, starting with the way
they live their lives and spend their money) - you can do it! If this seems
like a daunting task, don't worry - we're always here to help.
2 ) We are also looking for other people who are able to donate their time
anytime between now and the end of the tour. We are looking for people to
organize fundraising events, speaking engagements, and accomodation, and other
logistical tasks. All memebers of The Otesha Team help make this a reality,
from the front, or behind the scenes, and we believe all involvement offers an
exceptional experience.

For more information on The Otesha Project and what we do, you can check out
Our website at www.otesha.ca (although it is currently being redeigned by
professionals, the information remains the same).
If you decide that you want to take advantage of this phenomenal opportunity,
and join us, email us at info@otesha.ca .We can't wait to hear from you!
