Hi Paul,
Here is some local content for your next posting. Thanks.

Colpitt Lake/Armoyan Development

A new development proposal by George Armoyan threatens
Williams Lake, Colpitt Lake, and environmentally sensitive lands in
Mainland South. A public hearing is scheduled on Feb. 3, when the
Chebucto Community Council will vote on the proposal.

Please take a moment to visit our website and contact Councillors
directly by email, phone, or fax.

At www.williamslakecc.org, there's lots of information about this
proposal to rezone 156 acres between Purcell's Cove and Herring Cove Roads
in order to build 870 new dwelling units. Virtually an identical proposal
was rejected in 1998 after much public outcry, but Armoyan has resubmitted
it .

Your input is needed to alert the Council that the proposal is premature and
irresponsible. We need comunity driven planning, rather than adhoc
development.

Please forward this message to people you know who would be concerned, and
come to the Public Hearing to express your views. And do contact me if you
have other
people or organizations you think would want to hear about this development
(evakath@hfx.eastlink.ca).

Thank you.

Public Hearing February 3, 2003 at 7:00 pm
Keshman Goodman Library, 330 Lacewood Drive (near Home Depot)
Bus #4, #12 or #21 goes to the library
