The McNabs and Lawlor Islands Cleanup scheduled for Sunday June 15 is cancelled due to poor weather and a small craft warning for Halifax Harbour. Rained out for three weeks in a row, the Beach Cleanup will NOT be re-scheduled. For twelve years the Friends of McNabs Island Society has keep the beaches of McNabs and Lawlor Islands clean. Each year the society organizes a cleanup of debris that has washed ashore over the winter. Since 1991, Friends of McNabs Island volunteers have collected approximately 7,000 bags of garbage from McNabs and Lawlor Islands. This is the second time in twelve years that the cleanup had to be cancelled due to poor weather.
