CCA International Retreat to be held in PEI

Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19, 2003

Come join the Canadian Cooperative Association (CCA) at this year’s
international retreat, Healthy Communities – Global
Perspectives/Co-operative Solutions, focusing on raising awareness of what
makes a healthy community and examining best-case practices we can use in
our own communities.

Co-operatives play an innovative role in Canada’s health care system,
particularly in community-based clinics and home care. The co-operative
model in Canada and overseas has distinct advantages in several priority
areas of the health care system, including primary health care reform, home
care, rural and remote health, and Aboriginal health.

Through stimulating workshops and other activities, aspects of healthy
communities in Canada and overseas will be presented and discussed.
Experienced guest speakers will be invited to share their knowledge with
participants.

The Canadian Co-operative Association, through its Atlantic Member
Engagement Program, is pleased to sponsor this retreat in partnership with
the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Regional
Co-operative Development Centre (RCDC), the Community Animation Program
(CAP), and the Canadian Health Network (CHN).

Please join CCA and learn about Healthy Communities – Global
Perspectives/Co-operative Solutions. Dates for the retreat are Saturday,
October 18, 9:30 am to Sunday, October 19, 3:00 pm. Health and Environment
organizations are invited to set up a display at no charge. There is no
cost to this event but registration is limited to 40 people. Various health,
environmental, credit union and community development organizations will be
in attendance. To request more information please contact Maureen MacLean
(Member Engagement Coordinator) and Sarah Shima at <sshima@nb.sympatico.ca>.
