McNabs Island Paddle and Clean-up
September 13

Join fellow sea kayakers and canoeists for a leisurely free paddle
during the 6th annual McNabs Island Paddle and Clean-up, co-sponsored by
Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia and The Friends of McNabs Island Society; on
Saturday, September 13. Rain date is Saturday, September 20.

We will paddle along the shoreline of McNabs and Lawlor Islands
Provincial Park in Halifax Harbour, stopping at several beaches to
collect litter, largely plastic and glass. Plastic bags will be
provided, and a boat will pick up the full bags afterwards.

Personal flotation devices (PFDs) have to be worn while on the
water, while other safety equipment required by the Canadian Coast Guard
(floating line, bailer, signalling device) must be on board. Bring your
own lunch, water, and rain gear. Sorry, but we are unable to lend you a
boat.

Meet at 10:00 AM at the unpaved parking lot next to Dooks Wharf in
Shearwater (across from Tim Horton's and Ultramar on the road to Eastern
Passage).

Contact Dusan Soudek at 422-1045 or at soudekd@ns.sympatico.ca
for more information or to pre-register.
